Here’s what’s happening this weekend in Penticton: Mother’s Day edition

According to Environment Canada, it could reach up to 30 C this Mother’s Day weekend in Penticton.

Here’s what’s happening from May 10 to 12, as temperatures heat up.

Vees return home (May 10)

The fifth game of the Interior Conference Finals comes to the South Okanagan Events Centre on Friday night, as the Penticton Vees host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

The best-of-seven is tied 2-2.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

‘Malicious Monster Truck Tour’ (May 11 and 12)

Several monster trucks are ready to make some noise this weekend at the Penticton Speedway.

The ‘Malicious Monster Truck Tour’ kicks off the speedway’s 2024 season on Saturday and Sunday.

Action starts at 5 p.m., Saturday, and 2 p.m., Sunday.

Duel in the Desert (May 11 and 12)

Penticton Paddle Sports hosts canoe teams across Western Canada for this year’s edition of Duel in the Desert.

The event takes place at Skaha Lake, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday morning, the final races will take place and awards will be handed out at 11:30 a.m.

Blossom 8 Miller (May 12)

From Okanagan Lake Park to Naramata Road, runners from across the city are set to take part in the Blossom 8 Miller race on Mother’s Day.

The eight-mile race runs all day and is organized by the Penticton Pounders Running Club.

Mother’s Day at Cannery Brewing (May 12)

Celebrate Mother’s Day with some wine, fresh oysters and live music at Cannery Brewing on Sunday.

Event runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Musician John Welsh will hit the stage from 5 to 7 p.m. for a special performance. No cover charge.
